ContestsThe Winners of Fine Art America Contests I've Hosted: Your Favourite Artwork (Augest 2, 2009): First Place: I Still See You Like When I Was Little by Sybiline S. Article by Sybiline S. Some years ago, I decided to raise a project of 30 artworks on the theme of Second Place: Gaff Rigged Dory by Bruce Gruenzel Third Place: A Waking Nightmare by Denny Bond Mysterious (June 11, 2010):
"While admiring the amazing and beautiful things in life, we should not lose focus of our responsibility for those manmade things that we try to hide when no longer needed. This painting is part abstract, part symbolism with a message for everybody about protecting our environment. The 'Black Box' represents any such item we lazily try to dispose of, whether it be old batteries to dumpsites or chemicals to the sea. If we can't dispose of such things properly , they will always be there. Most often they will reappear as greater problems. So, look closely at this painting and you will see that the 'Black Box' still lies in the background.
Most of my art reflects on more positive subjects such as the beauty of nature and the good things in life. I try to leave the viewer with a cheerful memory of my paintings. I do this through the use of bright colours and good visual communication.
However, now and then as with this painting I like to focus on matters that I am concerned about.
In my opinion, it's not healthy for any artist to be constrained to one particular style of art.

The following artist was not part of a contest. However, when I found his piece, "Instruments at Rest," I could not resist displaying it on the website. The work was inspired by the artist's love of bluegrass music. Wonderful work, Ashton! May God continue to inspire you! Ashton Crawford (age 11), "Instruments at Rest."
